A couple of quick observations about the trailer and trailer life. First, it's a humbling experience to go from a large home into a small, confined space. But moreover how quickly you adapt. You find a place for everything and after two or three days you realize perhaps smaller is better. Maybe not this small but one damn sure doesn't need to be surrounded by thousands of square feet of dwelling. **
Secondly, towing a trailer has been described as a small house constantly being shaken by small earthquakes. This trailer is brand new but already interior mouldings are falling off, screws are coming out, the rooftop TV antenna is broken, and God knows what's next. While they are small things they are irritating as hell since the damn thing is brand new--a Springdale model by Keystone-- but so far repairable.
** Everything's bigger in Texas. Almost everything. A man in the appropriately tiny town of Luling not far from where we are now has started a company with a name like "Tiny Texas Houses". And that's what he makes: tiny houses that top out at perhaps 300 square feet. You can see the prototypes lined up along 1-10 east of San Antonio. They look like storage units but sounds like he's onto something. Downsizing in the extreme.
