Day 7,719. The nightmare on I-10 continues. The local weather liar promised clearing on Sunday. Well, this is Sunday and it ain't clear. At least it's not raining hard but it's drizzling and it's cold. High today will probably top out at 47. Now the storm is moving east and so are we. Yee-hah.
We'll be taking secondary roads east from Conroe before connecting up with I-10 in Louisiana. Our destination later on this afternoon: Rayne, Louisiana, where's it's supposed to be, what else, raining. It's off 1-10 just west of Lafayette. Rayne is the state's "frog capital". We'll be staying there because I (Corita) plan to make a pilgrimage to a shrine north of Rayne. It's the gravesite of Charlene Marie Richard, a young girl who one day could be on the Vatican's fast-track to sainthood.
Yesterday had a brief respite from this rolling walk-in closet that we've called home for the past almost two weeks now. Stayed with our friends Roz and Michael in Houston. I worked with Roz in San Francisco at a TV station back in the '80s. It was fun to reconnect after all these years and be able to spread out at least for a few hours in a beautiful house. Daisy was able to run and play with their oversized Golden Retriever, Augie (sp) and their two cats. One of which swatted her right across the face. She deserved it. Michael and Roz are great cooks. Had a wonderful Italian-inspired dinner then eggs benedict for breakfast. For us this morning, we're back in the walk-in closet. Coffee, left-over pizza and whatever else we can scrounge before having to hit the road by 10.
Oh, and even while just sitting here, another piece fell off the trailer. As Paul was replacing the paper towels on the towel rack above the sink, snap, crackle and down it came. You gotta love life in a tin can.
We went to Costco to transfer our photos to CD so I could upload them onto the blog, but so far no luck. I'll keep trying. Because we know you're just dying for pictures of Daisy and the nightmare on I-10. Remember, it's still all about the dog.

Keep it clean, please. And nice. And complimentary.
