First of all, many thanks to all of our blog followers. Please feel free to weigh in and post comments. Nice ones.
Most of yesterday was spent offline as we drove through a driving rain from the Lake Conroe Thousand Trails RV park to our next destination: the appropriately named Rayne, Louisiana. It calls itself "the Frog Capital of the World". Don't know why. Maybe I'll look that up.
Before I forget, I want to mention a spot where we had lunch before leaving Lake Conroe. Close to the park we found the one and only restaurant within a reasonable driving distance. A funky barbeque joint called "Texan's BBQ". It's little more than a wooden shack with a popular drive-up window and a few benches inside for folks who actually want to get out of their trucks. We were told people would drive 50 miles from Houston for this BBQ. I doubt that's true--I bet they're up here boating and fishing on Lake Conroe and hear about this place word-of-mouth. It's as good as it gets and priced about the same as a value meal at McDonald's. For six bucks apiece we had a super-sized BBQ beef sandwich (smoky and not too sweet), seasoned fries and a large drink. I was able to easily squeeze two meals out of it. Paul gave Daisy some and she promptly fired a wet one. We have no idea what's giving little D the squirts. But as you all know by now, it is all about the dog.
