The Disappearing Travel Trailer

Day 10. Another piece fell off the trailer today. This time a part of the dinette bench. Paul was simply getting up from the table and applied a little pressure to a fabric-covered piece of moulding and off the whole damn thing came. Screws pulled right out of the wood. We feel like we're in a Laurel and Hardy comedy with pieces of the thing flying every which way. Pretty soon we'll be pulling a frame on wheels with nothing but a couple of propane tanks rolling down the road.

We can't believe how cheaply these things are made. We understand manufacturers try to make them lightweight but lightweight doesn't have to translate into shoddy workmanship. And all this on the heels of Fleetwood Industries, the world's largest RV producer, filing for bankruptcy. Come on, RV industry, this is an American-made product. We can do a hell of a lot better.

But what the heck, it's all for the dog anyway.
