Wine a little. You'll feel better.

And we wonder why the dog is out of sorts. Heck, a few sips of joy juice and she's back to her old self. That old saying is true: the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. One look at this picture and you KNOW that Daisy's our dog.

Dinner with Sue and Bill

This trip has been a great way to reconnect with friends and family. Our most recent stop was to mooch off our friends Sue and Bill in Lake Worth near West Palm Beach. Sue was the person who hired me at KPIX television in San Francisco many years ago. So I blame her for launching my TV career, a thirty-year career that has been put on hold indefinitely. That's my way of saying that it's probably over and I'm going to end up competing for a low-end job at Costco with all those energetic twenty-year-olds. But TV was great while it lasted.

But seriously, Sue is a kind and talented person in so many ways. It was good to see her after more than a decade. Too long, I might add. Recently she and her husband Bill moved from the Keys to Lake Worth. Their house is a charming Spanish-inspired roomy bungalow. Daisy loved the hardwood floors and did her best to scratch them.
Bill is a food and wine writer, funny and insightful. Plus he cooks! This night we feasted on prime rib, asparagus, baked potatoes mashed with truffle oil and topped it all off with Key Lime pie. Delicious.

Best of all: Bill broke out a few bottles of sparkling and red wines from his spectacular collection. This beats wine in a box, sad to say. That's what we're drinking in the tin can and I wonder why I wake up with a headache.

So thanks to Sue and Bill. I only hope they'll take us up on our invitation to come to Sedona. We may not be there but come anyway. ;-)
