Heartland Fans from the Heartland

My hair looks like a fright wig. That's from the ***!## humidity.

Asleep at the wheel

Sunset at Sunshine Key RV Resort

Much is made of the fact that Arizona is, overall, the hottest state in the union. We can attest to that. Several years ago near Yuma, while I was out scouting a story for "America's Heartland", the temperature hit 117 degrees. And that was in winter. How hot and miserable was it? Well, imagine being blasted non-stop by a giant, industrial-size hairdryer. STILL...I'll take that dry heat over the humidity here on the east coast. I keep hearing that "it's good for the skin". Well, it ain't good for the psyche. If you're not used to it, this too warm, humid air will sap your strength and the willpower to do anything except blog and sit under an air conditioner. Daisy's passed out on the floor. Paul's lying on his ice pack. It's almost 1PM and we have yet to make it to Key West, a forty-minute drive south.

Since we'd run out of clean clothes I did drag myself to the laundromat this morning. Started chatting with a couple from Indiana who turned out to be farmers and were -- ta-da -- more fans of "America's Heartland". That makes three (see earlier blog post to meet the other one).

Keep it clean, please. And nice. And complimentary.
