Milledgeville, Georgia
We have spent the past two days with Paul's sister Ann and her English boyfriend Alfie. Before he moved to little Milledgeville, Georgia (where we are now), he was Britain's "Fucshia King". This man knows his flowers. His backyard, while a work-in-progress, is on its way to becoming a small Garden of Eden. Daisy is having a blast, chasing a tennis ball when she's not eating bugs. There are a lot of those down here in the south. Bugs, that is.
Ann is older than Paul but not by much. It has been years since I've seen her but she's just as nice and as hospitable as ever. Alfie's a great guy who allowed us to barge into his house like a couple of RVing hillbilly/squatters. Which we are. With low-life dog in tow.
Before our stay in Milledgeville, we stopped for a night north of Gainesville. Camped at a lovely RV park called "Travelers' Campground". Unusual in that it's a combination zoo and camp. Daisy would have gone after a herd of goats and miniature donkeys but they were safely housed behind a fence.
The only thing of note that happened during our brief stay there was a fire that erupted in a campsite behind us. After sunset we saw flames shoot up next to a big class A RV. Paul thought the RVers had a portable fire pit and put too much wood in it. But as it turns out they had placed an electric grill starter on a folding canvas chair and boom! Up it went in flames. Paul saw the result the next morning. All that was left of the chair was a charred metal frame. Good thing the RV was untouched. Yikes.
In an hour we're heading west to Alabama. Don't know where we're staying. Maybe a WalMart parking lot. We have yet to experience that.
